Komodo Dragon also known as Varanus komodoensis, is the world's largest lizard species that live on the islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Mota, and Gili Dasami in Nusa Tenggara. This lizard by the natives of Komodo island is also called "Ora". The international community gave the title of this animal with the "Komodo Dragon". The Komodo dragon is a member of the monitor lizard family Varanidae, and klad Toxicofera, komodo dragon is the largest lizard in the world, with an average length of 2-3 meters. Because of his body, these lizards occupy the position of a top predator that dominate the ecosystems in which they live. This large lizard is now protected under Indonesian law and a national park, namely Komodo National Park, established to protect them. Wild specimens largest ever of 3,13 meters in length and weighing about 166 kilograms, including the weight of undigested food in the stomach. Although listed as the largest lizard the Komodo dragon is still alive, but not the longest.
What the adventure look like?
Pickup will be done in the morning (depending on flight schedule). We will flight from Denpasar Airport, better known by the name of Ngurah Rai Airport to the Labuan Bajo (Flores).
It took approximately one and a half hours to Labuan Bajo. Arriving in Labuan Bajo, we will cross the ocean to the small island where the Komodo dragon for about 4 hours. Rinca and Kalong Island is the island that we visit. First, some guidance and a little knowledge about the Komodo Dragon will be given to the visitors before exploring the island. Here we will look at some of the Komodo dragon is on the loose.
Certainly safety is a major factor when exploring this region so that the guide will give way or tricks so we can take pictures with a herd of Komodo Dragon. Satisfied roam in this area, we will be invited back to the boat to spend the night on a boat. Komodo Dragon is also very active at night.
On the next day we will visit some more places like the Pink Beach. This beach is enormous, the water is clean and calm atmosphere will make everyone who visit it amazed. Before heading back to Labohan Bajo, we will visit a place called Mirror stone cave. Where in this cave there is a stone that looks like a mirror that reflects the image that is in front of it. After that, we are soon to return to Labuan Bajo to Bali.
